What is a Nazarene?
Sand Springs First Church is affiliated with the International Church of the Nazarene. It is a Protestant Christian Church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Organized in 1908, the Church is now home to more than 2 million members and is serving through local congregations in 159 world areas.
Our beliefs are based on the authority of Scripture and our lives are governed by the love of God. These are beliefs that we hold to be true and are common to Christians around the world…
We believe in one God…the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures are inspired by God, and contain all truth necessary to a life of faith and Spirit-led living.
We believe that all people have sinned and been separated from God by their sin.
We believe that Jesus made atonement for our sins and makes it possible for us to be restored into a right relatioship with God.
We believe that whoever repents of their sin and puts their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is restored into a right relationship with God.
We believe that all who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior are hopelessly and eternally lost.
We believe that followers of Jesus are to submit their lives fully to the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the church is called to worship together, to be trained, to be engaged in serving and sharing with a lost and dying world.
We believe in baptism and that baptism is a public declaration of one’s faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Lord’s Supper and that communion is the remembrance and appreciation of Christ’s death on the cross and a reminder that He is coming again.
We believe in divine healing and that God is the Divine Physician.
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
